What a colourful wedding day!
It’s the 2nd of January and our first wedding of the year! Yesterday I was so happy to see the plans come together for a bride and groom who had planned their wedding in a pretty short space of time. They chose Zane Wine Bar & Bistro as their venue for their reception following their wedding at the Town Hall, Hereford, and had some ideas of what they wanted – bright colours and sugar skulls!! After a few emails it was settled – the chairs would be dressed in white covers with a host of coloured sashes.
The bride chose the colours herself and we put them in place for her. She opted for blue, yellow, red, pink, green, orange and purple. The table dressings were simple but suited everything so well. There were vases of bright flowers, with small white branches, draped with small decorations such as birds, baubles, and small sugar skulls, dotted along the tables, and small jars of sweets for the guests to enjoy.
For the children there were a selection of things laid out at their places to keep them occupied. Each place mat was a set of activity sheets with colouring pencils and a colouring book. The kids absolutely loved these and it fitted the colourful theme perfectly.
The wedding cake was a selection of cupcakes provided by Mrs Mo’s Delicios. The cupcakes were stunning. They were bright and fresh and with a variety of decorations on the top, including the sugar skulls of course, and the very top cake had a F & G for the bride and groom’s names. And for the guest book, a frame for all the guests to sign so that they can display it in their home after the wedding.
The location was just right for this wedding. Zane Wine Bar provides a modern but intimate setting and the rear restaurant provided a great size of room for 38 people. The wedding breakfast was a selection of starters, such as pate and a welsh tartlet, followed by a choice of either roast beef, duck with mustard mash, smoked haddock, or a vegetable tagine. Desserts were then a fabulous chocolate and cointreau brownie, sticky toffee pudding, or lemon tart. The children were catered for separately and were of course extremely happy with their burger and chips!!
After the food was done it was just left for people to relax and have a drink or two and enjoy the company of others. Such a chilled afternoon with a lovely couple and their guests. This wedding just goes to show how colours work all year round, and how you shouldn’t be afraid to throw colours together to create the look that YOU want. The first wedding of the year was a complete success if you ask me!
Congratulations Gail and Fabio. I hope you enjoyed your day as much as I enjoyed styling it.
